Roraima Trekking

This famous tepui has an abundance of crystals, bizarre plant forms, prehistoric rock formations, atural "jacuzzis" and the Triple Point where Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana meet. It's a truly special place shrouded in mist and decorated with what looks like modern sculptures. Think of "Planet of the Apes" or a 70´s dinosaur flick. It's well worth spending a day on top and for most this means allowing 3 days up, 1 on top and 2 days down. That's 6 days with hardy explorers or keep fit fanatics able to take a day off
either end and doing a 4 day trip.
Upon descending Roraima we normally celebrate and rest up in St Elena. The place has an atmosphere all of it's own, a dusty hybrid of Venezuelan, Brazilian and T.V western. There are pool bars, new age shops, cheap bric a brac and the finest restaurant in the Gran Sabana, Venezuela Primera. The place has recently become accessible by road and from here we can arrange day trips to Brazil for which no visas are required.
